With this style, the design is struck into base iron or zinc metal and the resulting cavities are partially filled with enamel color. The partial fill maintains a slight recess against the raised metal edges which creates an added dimension and textured feel. Soft enamel works well with any pin design and is a great way to commemorate special occasions and/or events. Hard enamel, or cloisonne, offers a jewelry quality finish elevating the look and feel of the piece. Hand polished edges and color create a higher perceived value for the recipient. Color filled and stone polished prior to plating, leaves a shiny smooth final product. The Workhorse. Custom photodome pins (also referred to as custom printed pins) are a great alternative to enamel pins when dealing with photo-realistic or highly complex designs. They can be cut-to-shape and can contain any amount of detail. These printed pins are still made from base metal, but instead of striking the design into the metal, the design is printed on top of the metal with a layer of epoxy added to create the domed look/feel. The photodome/printed process is the ideal option for designs with gradient colors (not possible with enamel). It is also a slightly cheaper and quicker option at larger quantities.

The Classic. Die Struck Sandblast Lapel Pins. It does not get more classic than sandblast and polish. Die struck or cast, raw pieces are sandblasted before being hand polished. The process leaves a frosted recess, with shiny raised highlights. With just a bit of light these sparkle.
